Sage burning is a great tool for “clearing the air”. I have used it to banish dark energies from traumatic experiences in familiar places to creating a new, positive energy in a new space. Smudging isn’t just for new homes, it’s also for a refresher.
Sage Smudge Wand Instructions
What you need:
Sage Smudge Wand
Fire (lighter, candle, matches)
A ceramic or heat resistant bowl or plate
Intention
Procedure
- light the end of the wand with the flame until it embers (glows red within) and blow out the flame so it’s not a huge torch. It will keep itself lit until it is done. These can be used more than once 🙂
- Start with the four directions, setting a tone of thankfulness for all the elements and polarities that create life on this planet, making a pattern in the air with the smokey smudge wand- In whatever order is important to you (N,S,E,W), or even the sign of the cross if that is more salient to your spirit. (Begin anywhere in your house, maybe starting at the front door, maybe going for that trouble spot directly.)
- Let the smoke waft, and notice it’s pathways, without trying to purposefully make shapes (unless it’s way too fun not to!) But just notice how it moves. Keeping your intention or mantra clear and unwavering. If you get sidetracked, just get back to that mantra-no judgement!
- Continue to use whatever motion suits your purposes, use this like an adventure in your power. You are taking the responsibility for your clarity and happiness. Bravo!
