I drive home a lot. And that drive is 5 hours. I always look forward to trains and planes for the reading bonus. I tried music, that made me too passionate and I got a speeding ticket…. for 102mph….. So now I listen.

I live with my love and I love our home, but my previous home is still central to my life. My mom is there. so…

Anyway, I’m trying to read more books, and the only time I ever feel like reading is on airplanes. Seeing as driving is a little less expensive, I do that more.

I was just talking with a friend about a reading challenge, 50 books in one year. It suggests ideas of how to choose your books, but honestly, all the patience I have right now is for self help books. Things that help me be nicer to my body and mind, and help me achieve goals. I don’t have time to dream right now and get carried away with fantasy. This is the year of getting stuff done!! SO– audio books.

One of my goals is to come home once a month- which lets me listen to two books! One on the way there, and one on the way home. it’s awesome. 2 books a month=24 books a year. Imagine if I set reading hours for when I was home!

Last week, one of my friends who is a Mary Kay dealer (yes, I call her my dealer…) dropped off some of my crack–er waterproof mascara that I can’t live without, and we got to talking about how much of dreamers we are, but also how much we want to create our own lives. I love having motivated friends that are on the fence like me–big dreams, big plans, and trouble pulling the trigger. I love it because we keep tabs on each other. It makes such a difference to know people are thinking about you when they read or learn amazingly motivating things– I mean, this is my life, sharing wonderful quotes with all of you lovely readers, because I need it.

So, she texts me,

I went to this amazing training yesterday for my Mary Kay Business! The resonating topic was make a Commitment in your business, not pursuing an interest.  And interest is something that you do only when it’s convenient however a commitment you do even when you don’t want to. Be the CEO of your business and work it! Soo I am going to ask you, what is your commitment this year in your business?

So I respond,

My commitment is my time. Like–Making, setting, and keeping it.

I tend to not be motivated until the late afternoon-just in time for my lovely man friend to come home. Or late nights trying to get orders done. I want to give him the time he deserves, because he gives me undivided attention. This is the year of time management.

My time is precious.

This is one of my goals for the year, to have respect for my time. I have had so many jobs in the past where I go in and get the job done. This time, I’m working for me and myself and I should have the same integrity I apply to jobs where I work for others. My time is valuable and worth it. I’ve worked as an assistant for years, and wrangling other people and their time is SO easy. But for myself it’s harder.
